Healing Through Art

Sometime words aren't enough, sometimes we don't know what we feel, and sometimes we don't want to face the truth. Art can weave itself through all of these moments, allowing you to discover something new about yourself, heal the past, and form a new identity with which to go forward.

Expressive art therapy describes a tool, or method, of therapy that taps into the creative side of your mind. You do not have to feel that you are creative, rather, you create and express. This creating can bring awareness to your feelings and your situation and can allow you to process each in a more controlled or safer way.

No art experience is necessary, all supplies provided. Stick figure making and concrete thinkers are welcome!

Talk Therapy

Explore your beauty that is hidden inside  with words and feeling. You may find comfort sitting on a couch in the presence of a safe witness, your therapist. Sometimes most of the work is just showing up.

Meditation and Visualization

Stillness does not have to be boring, idle, or frozen. Learn how to rewire your brain to reduce your stress, physical or emotional discomfort. Oftentimes, people are hesitant to try this because they feel that they will be "out of control" or that they will be "doing nothing". It is quite the opposite, you may learn to feel more in control of your life and reassess what it means to be "productive".

WHY ART?

Integrates mind, body

and emotion for a holistic approach to healing that nurtures the whole self.

Promotes self awareness and empowerment. Regain a sense of control.

Provides a safe space for people to express their inner experiences and begin the journey toward emotional recovery, even following the trauma caused by an illness.

Develop problem solving skills, gain emotional strength and build resilience in the face of ongoing challenges

"art making reflects who we are and how we feel by providing

a motor output that is the sum integration of visual, emotional, and cognitive processing."
